Murals by Michele Duffy

Childrens murals and furniture

Murals are painted in acrylics on a base of household emulsion. If required
this can then be sealed with a water based matt lacquer.

We can paint a mural based on your children's favourite characters, work
to your own ideas or create something especially for you.

Drawings can be provided before work commences. This service carries a charge of approximately 10% of the finished project. This is non refundable but will be deducted from the final bill.

All Murals are charged at £250 a day plus expenses. As a guideline, some of the examples shown below also include the number of days taken to complete.

Gilbert`s room.

Gilbert was very precise about the species of penguins that he wanted in his bathroom, and plenty of research was needed. I love the finished result, and it will look wonderful when he gets his white carpet to match.

Emily's room, time to complete 8 days.

Lovely Emily is going to be a vet one day and these are some of the animals that she will be loooking after. She already knows a lot about big cats so I hope I have got the right number of spots and stripes.

Gilbert's room

Although this is not the first time I have painted an underwater theme, each one is very different and just as much fun as the first one.

Shower room. Time to complete 3 days

This tiny shower room made an ideal rainforest, but was extremely difficult to work in as there was so little space.

Claudia's bathroom. Time to complete 8 days.

This is a very bright and cheerful variation of an underwater theme, and will look great when all the finishing touches are added to the room.

Charlotte’s room.

14 year old Charlotte attends a stage school, and her request was Marilyn Monroe and the New York sky line. An original idea that I think looks wonderful, and is enhanced by basically keeping to just three shades of grey.

Room for unborn baby. Time to complete 1 day.

As this room had already been painted pale blue it did not take long to add clouds balloons and a tree. I think it looks very pretty and calming, and proves that you do not have to spend a great deal of money to have a beautiful hand painted room.

Josh`s room.

Josh is the envy of all his school friends`, for having such a cool bedroom. Graffiti is a real art form, and I owe special thanks to Jack Marsh for the use of his fantastic drawings, without which this mural would not have been possible. I also have to add that it was great fun to do.

Matthew, Lauren and Hollys room.

This underwater theme works perfectly with the shape of this room and is suitable for both boys and girls of all ages. The three beds were joined together and arches were cut to enable the children to go 'deep sea diving' from one end to the other. Luminous fishes inside added to the fun. Time to complete 18 days.

Harry's room.

Harry wanted a jungle room and provided us with a long list of animals, including a tarantula! We then painted his existing furniture to match the theme. As a surprise dozens of tiny luminous stars were dotted through the tree tops ready to glow when the lights were turned off. Time to complete 15 days.

Amy and Tommy's bedroom.

This unusually shaped room was perfect for the hundred acre wood and Pooh corner. Time to do 8 days.

Childrens bathroom.

The bath was in the shape of a fishing boat, and the shower was a lighthouse, so the Greek island theme worked perfectly. Time taken 3 days.

Room for unborn baby. Time to complete 3 days.

This room was first colour-washed to give some depth to the walls and then a tree with silver leaves was added. The finishing touch was the addition of some white doves scattered around the room. This looked very pretty and was not too overpowering in what was a very small space.

Amy and Tommy's play room.

Great fun to do, and unlike anything I have done before. Time to do 9 days.

Jack's room.

Jack chose all the things that he wanted on this mural. The Sainsbury's truck was considered most important. Time taken 7 days.

This mural started to take on a life of its own, as the client constantly thought of new things that she would like to have added. I have been back since `completion` to add many more characters as new films have been released.

The Simpson’s are a popular choice for both boys and girls, and are well suited to play for your favourite team.

Toby's room.

A subject close to our artists heart. The walls were first painted to resemble breeze blocks and then details such as a display cabinet, hanging overalls, rosettes etc were added to complete the illusion of a F.1. garage. The opening onto the pit lane shows Michael Schumacher winning yet again. Time to complete 15 days.

Robin's room.

These delicate fairies dancing around the room would delight any little girl lucky enough to have a
bedroom like this.

Ronnie's room .

More children's favourites. Just as effective in on older property as a modern one. We picked up the green of the carpet for the lower sections of grass and added some clouds to the blue ceiling. A lovely room for two little boys. Time to complete 16 days.

Theo's room.

Palm trees, desert islands, sailing ships and pirates every little boys dream. The furniture was kept to a very simple design and then painted to blend in with the mural. A special room for a special little boy. Time to complete 13 days.

Millie`s room.

I have not met Millie yet, as this room was painted before she was born. The neutral shades look very pretty, and the simplicity of the design not too overpowering.

This wall was painted ready for the arrival of twin boys. I think it looks fun and colourful, and gave me a good excuse to see the film.

Jack's room.

This wonderfully colourful room has plenty to interest any little boy or girl, both day and night.

James`s room.

Young James designed this mural himself, and was very specific as to the way it should be executed. I can see I am going to have a rival in a few years time.

Restricting the theme of the main characters to Disney animals is a nice idea, and made a very pretty wall for a very small girl.

These `murals` were painted on boards each measuring 3`x 6`, so that when the children grow out of them, they can be put away for them to keep. The children each appear in their own picture, and they each had a list of things for me to include, so if you think you can see E.T in both pictures, you would be right.

Ellie's room.

An old favourite that is still as popular as ever. We carefully reproduced the drawings of E.H. Shepard, our favourite being this tree. We then made a toy box on which we continued the theme. Time to complete 1 day.
